This weeks "Big Pictures" will feature a few of the photos I have found in boxloads of slides that I recently purchased from thrift shops and online auctions. All these photos will eventually make their way to myFound Photos section, and others will also be posted to my Found Photos at Tumblr pages.
This photo is from a Kodachrome slide dated 1959. This slide is one of hundreds that I found at an Astoria thrift shop earlier this year. The slides show the travels and daily lives of a Brooklyn family from 1959 to 1981. I never expected to become so interested in these slides but as I delved deeper into them I found myself wanting to re-unite them with anyone who might still be connected to this family. I also found myself simply wanting to know who they were. All those pictures contained only a few concrete clues as to the livelihoods and relationships of the people pictured therein. If you want to hunt for clues yourself you can wander through the pictures at my Who Are These People? pages.
