Mt. Olivet is a garden cemetery.
For some reason I only seem to end up at this cemetery during foul weather. You can not tell from these photos, but it was very cold and very windy during the two visits from which these photos were taken. I have been to this cemetery numerous other times and I consider it a favorite of mine. My routine has been to visit the grounds and afterwards stop at the Grand and Remsen Diner across the street for sausage and French toast.
I was sad to learn that the beautiful European Purple Beech tree that was a signature of the cemetery had fallen victim to some kind of virus that affected numerous trees along the east coast. Formerly alive and colorful, the last time I saw it it was a frozen hulk.
