Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial

Mt. Zion is home to a notable memorial to 16 unidentified victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, a seminal incident in New York history which occurred on March 25, 1911, on Manhattan's lower east side. Numerous other web sites detail the Shirtwaist disaster and how its significance has not faded to this day. The two statues with outstretched arms are often pictured as being a part of the Shirtwaist memorial, but they appear to me to represent the entrance to Workmen's Circle. There are three monuments at Mt. Zion dedicated to Shirtwaist, including an impressive pillar structure nestled among other markers at Workmen's Circle.
