Abandoned Baby Carriages

I am making this photo series up as I go. Over a period of months it seemed I spotted abandoned baby carriages everywhere. I decided to start photographing them to see what the series of photos would reveal. Since then I have only seen these few carriages.

I can't decide if discarded baby carriages symbolize anything not already symbolized by other types of garbage. An abandoned baby carriage does not, after all, represent an abandoned baby.

It could be said to symbolize the passing of infancy and the march of life to adulthood, or the cavalier disposal of childhood's objects.

On the other hand I recently learned that much of this type of equipment comes with expiration dates, meaning they should be discarded at some point to reduce the risk of safety hazards.
