Third Grade Yearbook, 1977
I went to school for about 10 years with some of the people in these pages. Today I am in contact with no one from this school, save for the occasional e-mail sent to a high school alumni list.
What impresses me about this particular yearbook, printed 30 years ago, is that I leaf through its pages feeling like no time has passed. The memories of this particular school year are as fresh and alive as if they happened yesterday. I do not feel that way about other school years or other places in my life. There was something special about this one school year which, for me, remains frozen in time.
Though I am not in contact with anyone on these pages, I do sometimes hear news and notes about the life travels of these kids. Some of those updates are less than happy, but most are good to hear. Hey, look at how good I turned out!
I am interested in the randomness of directions that people choose in life, and in taking arbitrary gatherings of people from some point in time and tracking the progress of their lives from that point forward. It would be interesting to chart the lives on these pages. From what I've gleaned over the years it appears most folks here have stayed close to home, residing within the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area.
