This 27" Magnavox television might not look like much today, but that thing was colossal when I got it in 1991. It was not without its issues, as I evidently returned it to Sears for repairs in March, 1992. I loved this TV, and I still have it though it barely works. In fact I tried to make something of this television's inability to display a picture by pointing a cheap webcam at it and collecting what I thought were psychadelic pictures of the television as it failed to produce a coherent picture but in the meantime allowed for warped and distorted images that I thought had a character of their own.
I had another unusual experience with this television. Late on night a public access channel carried a live psychic who invited people to call in so she could divine their future. I called in and started coherent but gradually (and intentionally) wandered into complete nonsense. The psychic, sitting there on live television, stared into the camera and I, invisible to her, stared back. It was a strangely exhilarating feeling to make contact like that through a live television, and even if the call confused the psychic I don't regret doing it if it made for interesting television.
The television was enormous
