This family owned a boat and seems to have made good use of it for fishing and beer-drinking in the waters around New York City. This series of pictures includes pictures from the water and pictures of the now-historic Lightship Ambrose and the Ambrose Light. My favorite pictures from this series include the man lying on the floor of the boat with a smile on his face and a beer on his belly, the man with the sailor's cap swilling a Rheingold beer, and certain of the group portraits. I also included a few pairs of images showing how slide scans from the CanoScan 8800F scanner look with and without dust and grain correction set to "Low" -- it's surprising how much of a difference it makes to use that setting, though use of dust and grain correction causes each scan to take quite a bit more time than not using it. This set includes a few too many pictures of the docked boat, but those pictures are of some interest because they appear to have been taken at the Schatz Bros. Marina, a facility which was destroyed long ago. If you recognize something in these pictures then I hope you will add comments.
