Chosatonga Summer Camp 1979

Camp Chosatonga was, and still is, a summer camp for boys. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. I went to camp at Chosatonga for two summers (1979 and 1980) when I was 11 and 12 years old. Prior to that I spent a summer at Camp Sequoyah, also in North Carolina. These two camps were related: Sequoyah closed and Chosatonga opened with much of the same staff and attendees. 1979 was the charter year of Chosatonga. I found this lovely web site of Sequoyah Memories from the 1970s and another site called Sequoyah Central but have not found as much alumni activity from Chosatongans. I have scanned many of my Sequoyah photos as well and expect to upload them soon. The photos on these pages are from a Christmas mailing called "Chosatonga Memories," in which all the campers are pictured with their cabin leader. There are no names anywhere on this mailing, but if you see yourself or someone you recognize feel free to say hello.
