Why is this BOWL sign interesting? Because there has not been a bowling alley at this location for over 10 years. Located on Broadway near Crescent Street in Astoria, the bowling alley was located in a basement space that has since been converted to a recording studio. The recording studio opened years ago but this sign remains. Among bowling fans it's a bit of a sore point, too, since there no bowling to be found in Astoria except for the relatively remote Maric Lanes.
