Here is something I hate to see. A spelling error on a tombstone. I consulted numerous dictionaries and found that shephard is not an accepted alternate spelling of shepherd in any reference source. Mistakes on tombstones are actually very common, though the errors are usually in dates and in the spelling of individuals' names. These errors are obvious to family and friends but not to casual observers.
