Moore-Jackson Cemetery, Jackson Heights

A tiny cemetery which somehow has survived since colonial America, the Jackson-Moore Cemetery sits among modern apartment buildings in Jackson Heights, Queens. This burial ground has gone through various phases of neglect, but is now a protected landmark.

I remember when this cemetery was found. I went to the local Elementary School P.S 151Q and since I was in the honors program we had the chance to go while the archeologist and several news people where there. I vaguely remember (I was only 10 yrs old) helping one of them search through the soil trying to find more things. My best friend used to live in the house right next to it and whenever I would go over I would get scared by the fact that this burial ground was from the 1700's. I am lucky to live around the area and that I get to see it very often. After all it is a Landmark .
