<description><![CDATA[This marker was placed in 1992 by the <a href="http://www.psgilmore-society.org/">Patrick S. Gilmore Society</a> on the 100th anniversary of Gilmore's death. According to the Gilmore Society web site: “There were nine people buried here: Gilmore, his wife, his daughter Minnie, her husband John Carter and four of his children.”  Gilmore is probably best known as composer of the song &quot;When Johnny Comes Marching Home&quot; but his influence in American music reached well beyond that one tune. John Philip Sousa dubbed Gilmore the &quot;Father of the American Band.&quot;]]></description>
