<description><![CDATA[It obviously wasn't much, but I think about this room a lot. It was not my first room in New York but it was the first place I stayed for an extended period of time. In my more generous recollections I imagine that with a table, a typewriter, and some roach bait this room would be most of what I really need in life. I think about this because today I live in what I consider a good apartment -- I've lived here for 11 years so how bad could it be? -- but I find myself wishing I had less. I wish I had fewer objects: televisions, computer screens, radios, windows, telephones, and other distractions. I have explored the world of weekly-rate rooms in New York, and while things have changed since I had this room at the Parc Lincoln it still seems possible to rent weekly rooms like this for a reasonable amount of money.]]></description>
