The turkey is in the oven, filled with appple-sausage stuffing, the cranberry sauce is in the fridge, the giblets are there too (waiting to be made into gravy), along side the defrosted frozen green beans (to be made into vinegar-bacon beans). When we opened our presents today, my step-mother in law had sent me a hand held mixer---two weeks ago, unbeknownst to me-- and my mixer died LAST NIGHT, purely by coincidence!

I'm listening to Mark's last RealAudio of 1997/& remembering the 2 occasions I did Times Sq. on New Year's Eve (at age 17 & 19). For one thing/ back then/the L.I.R.R. used to be free on New Year's Eve. So if you were young & carless & from Long Island/ what better place to go than Times Sq.? Did my first hit of mescaline on New Year's Eve in Times Sq. & had a blast! The main difference was strictly the weather -- for some reason/winters in NY were warmer & less windy back in the '70's -- even when it snowed. You could stand outside & wait for the ball to drop without freezing your ass off. Plus there were hookers & lunatics & all sorts of really interesting characters out in Times Sq. back then/ before they Disney- fied it.
