WEIRD..... combo-ing Primatene with Zyrtec for my allergic reaction I am having is strange. one minute i am tapping my desk with my pen like a fresh skin on my snare, the next minute i am yawing incessantly. Ohwell the swelling has gone down a bit, or least hasn't gotten worse......

zakir hussain assaulted us with the most incredible tablar ensemble. blew my mind, the subtleties of that drum. hard not to get up and boogie, but it wasn't that tyep of gig. he was pure, angelic.

my date, on the other hand, assaulted me with his complete weenie-ness. the weenie of all weenies.

now i'm just waiting for the valium to kick in. whatever psychic residue is left over from this wretched week will be worked out in kickboxing tomorrow morning.

My friend Eddie Riott just left. He stopped by on his way to Viroqua to contact a friend and take a shower. He wants my help in promoting Reggae on the Rez next Labor day, and also if I had a regae project going, to come play. Guess I have that incentive now. The problem now is finding other poeple who want to play straight reggae w/o all the other shit modern white boys seem to want to throw in, like 311 or sublime.

just got rhiannon's tape, but haven't listened to it yet. I thik I may later this afternoon. Loved the cover, btw, rhi's too cool for school.

36 years old today.

Here are some of the things I did on my birthday:

I woke up at 3:30am
I rode 40 miles in a boat.
I hiked over six miles.
I climbed and descended over 3000 vertical feet.
I saw three bears, two elk, numerous eagles, a handful of grebes, enough deer to fill a semi, and a very large frog.
I ate smoked oysters for lunch.
I drank cheap beer with leftover french fries for dinner.

And I still get a birthday party tomorrow. We should all be so lucky.

happy birthday Simon! sounds like you had a great one.

margret, please find time to stay awhile.

tomorrow i turn 27. i finally feel well enough to stop sleeping. plus i'm nearly out of valium anyway. i bought myself a new surfboard, that i couldn't at all afford, as a birthday present to myself. a beautiful 9 footer. and a fresh pack of sex wax. i love the smell of sex wax first thing in the morning. we're still enjoying a beautiful south swell, less scary than 5-7, and me and eight other of my girlfriends are heading down in a hour to having a surfing birthday party on the ocean. if you can close your eyes to visualize it, you should be laughing your ass off.

i also baked myself a pineapple upside down cake from scratch. i may share it, i may not - haven't decided yet.

think I am going to have to venture deeper into debt and go to the dentist - i'm pretty sure I have a big cavity in my left upper wisdom tooth. I don't have dental insurance though, which sucks big time. I gues those are the breaks in today's society. Makes me relly wish we had socialized medicine, which when you think about it, should be a component of any truly civilized country..

just discovered another act of stupidity on my part. Duh! Preserved for ever in email too.

Luckily I have a rationale for this. (Female troubles)

But what if this happens more and more? At all times of the month? What if my average for goofing up soars? What is the break point for the stupidity average? Above which, they stop asking me for advice. Above which, they being to shake their heads and mutter. Above which, authorities are consulted and actions are taken. Above which, no one wants to talk to me. Above which, I get so used to it I'm even surprised when I get something right. Above which, I have no idea what it's like not to be stupid anymore...

Just got back from seeing Mystery, Alaska, which is what my mom wanted for hir birthday. Shook loose $20 for my brother's weed yesterday, too, for his birthday which was in September. I hope by Christmas I can afford to be a little less stingy with the gift-giving. Anyway, Mystery, Alaska was a charming little movie. I liked it. It got soundly panned by the critics, which is odd. I think, though, that maybe I am just a sucker for Sport-themed movies. I like 'em, especially besabol and hockey, but Hoosiers is one of my all time favorite movies. Hmm. Well.

just finished watching Spawn, the uncut version. Very impressive, esp. w/ the stereo surround sound, totally freaked out the cat.

Saw a fantastic Discovery program tonight, about the ancient European mummies found in western China a few years back. Thery were so well preserved it was almost frightening. There were 3200 bodies that looked to be 5 months dead. perfectly preserved fabrics and even facial paint. They have some pictures up at discovery.com if you didn't catch it. If you get a chance, watch this program. Also saw a discovery news brief where an astronmer is coming forward with indirect evidence for the existence of a tenth planet way out beyond Pluto, and much bigger than Jupiter. Exciting stuff! I had to get off the couch and shout.

going to bed, but first -

Found a couple of those 6 degrees to some actor sites. Found I am only five degrees away from teh following people:
Kevin Bacon, Steve Buscemi, Orson Welles, Adam Sandler, and Elvis.
I am four degrees away from Brad Whitford, Dion, and James Coburn. I linked to these folks through Lou Diamond Phillips and k.d.lang, both of these people through Melissa Etheridge, and Etheridge through my friend Bernie. Through Bernie I am also only 2 degrees away from David Lindley, Spit Stix, and Scott Ian. I could go on from there but i am tired and feeling just a little silly. g'nite

Thanks. Guess I forgot to leave out the part about the 12 grand in fertility treatments (my wife and I each had conditions that needed to be corrected) and 2 years of frustration and heartbreak. Fortunately we finally found doctors who were able to improve each of our conditions and still it took an additional 5 months for artificial insemination to work.

Now we keep our fingers crossed for a safe pregnancy.

I think for everyone who gets infertility tretments, some else should be able to get sterilized for free. I'd do it. No offense H, I'm not putting down your personal decision, but damn, that Fear song "Let's Have A War" keepes going through my head as I hear about the military coup in Pakistan with their new nuclear missles and the scary situaion with Russian nuclear reactors. There is a village over there that hasn't had a normal birth at the hospital in something like thirty years or more.

And I am not back on beer. yet. I actually haven't had any alcohol in over 5 months now. Every now and then, I'll want a Guinness but that's about it. I don't think you can get Guinness here so the pint is moot.

I didn't mean to type "pint" but I'll let that stay...

(btw, Thanks, Cyst, for the Gothe paper napkin. It wa severything I dreamed and a beautiful example of pure bull dada. I serious will cherish it.)
