I wonder if I'll ever find someone who knows the story about this place, a bright blue, crystal clear lake near Chester, West Virginia.

There are stranger things on earth, but I discovered this puzzling blue lake while driving around West Virginia this summer. Everything in the water was dead, and the place smelled kind of funny.

No one I talked to from the town had a definitive story about what happened there. I've done research, but have intentionally limited my search for information about this lake. In this instance, for whatever reason, I prefer the tiny thrill of a mystery to a prosaic, well-informed answer.

Well, that's all I have to say today. It is raining. Rainy days make my bones ache, but I have to go out and do things. I rarely leave this apartment any more except to buy food. My routine is slowly evolving away from "eat, shit, sleep" to something more complex. But can I cope? Can I make the transition? That's the real mystery.
