About the Daily Zebra

The Daily Zebra came about when a friend played the word ZEBU in a Scrabble match. I was unfamiliar with the word but remarked that it sounded like it had something to do with zebras, and that ZEBU.com sounded like the name of a niche web portal specializing in something like porcelain or ceramic zebras. "Zebras For U" might, I imagined, be the slogan for this site which featured a personality screener that matched you to a certain type of zebra product.

Alas, a zebu is an asian ox, and the word has nothing to do with zebras save for the fact that zebus and zebras are animals. Zebu.com lies in waste to domain name squatting.

This site is just for fun. I do, however, find it interesting to take a single subject and travel through its appearances in different contexts. In that spirit The Daily Zebra was born, with links to zebra sites I like -- that is the criteria: I have to like the site for some reason.

This site officially started on October 20, 2008, and will last for as long as I keep spotting interesting  zebra sightings on the Internet on in reality.
